Aquamarine and turquoise are both blue, but for completely different reasons, which is why they sit so well together. Aquamarine is beryl, the same species as emerald, colored by traces of iron; faceted, it reads like clear, cool water. Turquoise is an opaque copper-bearing mineral, polished smooth as a cabochon so its color lives on the surface instead of glowing from inside.

Four faceted aquamarines totaling 5.70 carats carry the length of the pair. At about 1.4 carats each on average, they are real center stones, not accents. Two turquoise cabochons, 2.80 carats together, add depth of color, and four small diamonds sit between the gemstones as points of light. Yellow and white gold share the setting, so these wear as easily with your yellow gold as with your white.

Turquoise is porous. Put these on after perfume and lotion, and wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.
