Pear-shaped tsavorite against pink sapphire, held in a halo of 84 diamonds and set in 18k rose gold. Green and pink is a harder pairing than it looks — both stones are saturated, and in white gold they tend to compete. Rose gold settles the argument by warming everything toward the pink side, so the tsavorite reads as the accent rather than the opponent.

The pink sapphires are worth understanding. Sapphire is corundum, and pink corundum takes its color from chromium — the same element that makes ruby red. What separates a pink sapphire from a ruby is how much chromium is present and where a given market draws the line.
