Yellow diamonds owe their color to nitrogen trapped in the crystal as it formed. In a colorless diamond, even a trace of yellow lowers the grade; in a yellow diamond, it is the whole point, and the richer and more even the color, the more the stone is worth.

This necklace splits its weight almost exactly in half. Nine oval yellow diamonds total 1.72 carats, close to 0.20 carats each, so each one is large enough to show its color clearly. Between them, 124 white diamonds totaling 1.73 carats keep the line bright from end to end. Yellow gold sits under the yellow diamonds to deepen their color, and white gold under the white ones keeps them crisp.

The length adjusts from 14.5 to 17 inches, so it can sit at the collarbone on its own or slightly lower when you layer it.
